Additives that purpose to inhibit the thermo-oxidative degradation of polymer resin belong to antioxidant. Antioxidants are the most important plastics stabilizer. Based on mechanism, the traditional antioxidant system can be subdivided in primary antioxidant, auxiliary antioxidants and heavy metal ions passivation agent etc. The main antioxidant works by capturing polymer oxygen free radicals, also called ‘peroxide radical scavengers’and  ‘chain termination antioxidant’, involving aromatic amines and hindered phenolic compounds. In conjunction with primary antioxidants, auxiliary antioxidants usually called ‘peroxide decomposer’ has a role in decomposition of the polymer oxygen compound, it includes thio-dicarboxylate and phosphate compound. Heavy metal ion deactivating agent known as ‘anti-copper agent’, to prevent oxidative degradation of the polymer resin through complexation reactions with transition metal ions, the hydrazide compound etc are the typical structures.
